After spending more than 10 years working in the media as a TV reporter, producer and spokeswoman, I started my company so that I could have the flexibility to be a great wife and mom for my two children. Sonny is the CEO of The Exchange Brand which she launched in 2018 with four marketplaces she designed; A Coffee, Eatery & Mercantile, A Salon & Parlor, two Airbnb apartments, and The Nest Cowork + Club.

She is also the owner of the award-winning design firm Sonny Hennessy Design. Her first building received 2 awards: “Wisconsin Mainstreet Award for Best Renovation of a Historic Building” and “DePere’s Best Historical Society Award”.  The Exchange has been featured a dozen times on news segments and cooking shows in the area for the unique menu and execution.

Sonny’s first love is serving as Lead Pastor of Life Church Green Bay, where her husband Shawn, is the Senior Pastor and the Green Bay Packers Team Pastor. For four years Life Church has topped the list by Outreach Magazine as one of the fastest-growing churches in America and reaches tens of thousands of people on a weekly basis.
I’m in love with the Bible and teaching from the lessons God is teaching me or has taught me. I feel like I have lived a lot of life already yet, I’m just getting started on this wild adventure. I had to lean on scripture to get through my tough teen years where I, a “Christian,” got pregnant at 14, had the baby at 15, and within hours of giving birth had her die in my arms. I couldn’t seem to wrap my immature mind around what to do with all of “this.” I started praying for wisdom patterning my prayers after young Solomon, from the Bible. Solomon became King and received more wisdom from God than any person to date. People often remarked that God gave me wisdom beyond my years which probably lead me to Bible College where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies.

Wisdom was tested after marrying my husband, Shawn, having a miscarriage, having another baby who only lived 18 days, dodging a near divorce, and making the hard climb back to level ground. It now required wisdom and faith to continue to follow God in all my grief and confusion. As a speaker and author, it’s natural for me to be practical and transparent in communicating because I know what “it’s” like...being very imperfect and not wanting to stay that way.

For those who want depth, I weave my studies from the Holy Land to make connections between the Old and New Testament. I fall more in love with Jesus and His Word every year but traveling to Israel twice in 2019 was the most connected I ever felt to Him.

Prior to starting her own business, she spent 15 years negotiating contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars for Fortune 500 companies like Avaya, AT&T, HP, and Sprint.
